Getting The Job

Step by Step directions to getting a summer job in an Ice Cream Shop:
1. Start reading Colson Whitehead's Sag Harbor for inspiration.
2. On a hot, early summer evening, take a sticky stroll down to your local ice cream parlor for a scoop or two.
3. While waiting in the 30 deep line, let your eyes wander freely until they decide to focus in on the quaint "Help Wanted" written in chalk behind the door.
4. Think to yourself "Hmmm...that sounds like fun. I don't have any income right now, and that Colson Whitehead book has really romanticised ice cream scooping for me...hmmm..."
5. Let the idea marinate for a few days.
6. Early the next week, take the very same stroll as you did that first fateful night - only not as sticky this time - walk in and ask about the job.
7. Fill out job application (Why do you want to work at this Ice Cream Parlor? Because I've been an Ice Cream EXPERT since childhood).
8. Meet with lovely Italian woman and talk about life dreams for a few minutes in what will be the quickest job interview you'll ever have.
9. Follow the lovely Italian woman downstairs to make your schedule.
10. Shake hands, say "See you tomorrow night", smile, and then walk out into the hot summer air.
